UNSOS Director Sector Visit to Baidoa

Baidoa – Ms. Qurat-ul-Ain Sadozai, Director of Mission Support at the United Nations Support Office in Somalia (UNSOS), continued her visits to the Sectors to meet staff and stakeholders including ATMIS and SSF

During her visit to Baidoa, the administrative capital of South West State, Ms. Sadozai reiterated the UN body's unwavering commitment to clients and ensuring support to Somalia.
 
Ms. Sadozai's visit was aimed at reviewing the progress on the decentralization efforts to support the African Union Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS) and Somali Security Forces, with the goal to promoting agile and efficient operational delivery.

“We are pleased to witness the progress being made so far in the decentralization process of logistical support to the African Union Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS) and Somali Security Forces (SSF). It is a journey that will continue to improve based on the needs of our clients,” the senior UNSOS official said.

Ms. Sadozai emphasized UNSOS's dedication to fulfilling the UN mandate, particularly in assisting Somalia's stabilization efforts and by facilitating support to transition initiatives. 

During the visit, the UNSOS official also toured the Kube Solar Energy Plant, highlighting the significance of transitioning to renewable energy to align with the UN's Sustainable Development Goals.

“This project will ensure the camp has sufficient electricity and reduce the reliance on generators,” she noted.

“It is an important environmental initiative to promote renewable energy activities” added Ms. Sadozai.

Ms. Sadozai also held discussions with ATMIS Sector Three Commander, regional representatives of the Somali National Army (SNA), United Nations Assistance Mission in Somalia (UNSOM), UN agencies and ATMIS among other partners.

Ms. Sadozai also participated in a tree-planting exercise at the UNSOS camp in Baidoa further emphasizing the importance of environmental sustainability.
