UNSOS Director of Mission Support visits Beletweyne

Beletweyne – Ms. Qurat-ul-Ain Sadozai, Director of Mission Support in the United Nations Support Office in Somalia (UNSOS) continued a familiarisation tour to the Sectors by visiting Beletweyne, Hirshabelle State on Wednesday.

The visit aimed to assess progress on the decentralization of logistics support offered to the African Union Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS) and other stakeholders.

Upon arrival in Beletweyne, the capital of Hiiran region, Ms. Sadozai was received by ATMIS Sector Four Commander Col. Said Waberi Harour, his Deputy Col. Shumet Telelew and senior UN officials.

Ms. Sadozai held meetings with UN staff and ATMIS officials, emphasizing UNSOS’ commitment to ensure agile and efficient delivery of logistical support through decentralized operations and to facilitate a smooth transition. 

Ms. Sadozai also visited the UNSOS warehouse and assessed the ongoing construction works on the containerized accommodation project in Beletweyne.

During her discussions, Ms. Sadozai expressed her appreciation for the positive feedback from ATMIS and UN personnel regarding the logistical support UNSOS provided in Sector Four.

“We have received good feedback from UN staff and ATMIS officials and they are very satisfied with the support we provide them. They have given us some good suggestions on where and what to improve on to enhance the support,” said Ms. Sadozai.

Col. Harour commended UNSOS for the support, adding it had greatly contributed to the achievement of set objectives in Somalia.

Alongside the meetings with ATMIS officials, Ms. Sadozai also held separate discussions with senior UN officials and staff including UNSOM Head of Office, Benjamin Jonah and UNSOS Regional Administrative Officer Ali Sartaj.

The UNSOS Director has previously conducted similar visits to Kismayo and Baidoa in Jubaland and SouthWest State respectively.
