UNSOS Trains AMISOM Officers on Response and Management of Combat Medical Emergencies

Mogadishu - The UN Support Office in Somalia (UNSOS) and AMISOM medical sections provided training to military and police medics in handling combat emergencies.

The training was conducted by facilitators from UNSOS, the UK-Mission Support Team (UK-MST), the United Nations Mine Action Service (UNMAS) and a private contractor, SafeLane Global.

At least fifty-five military and police medical personnel from the six AMISOM Sectors attended the five-day training at the Joint Mission Training Centre (JMTC) in Mogadishu.

Participants were taken through theoretical and practical sessions on combat trauma care and performed simulations of casualty evacuations and extraction of the wounded from vehicles.
