UNSOS Engineers Conclude Baidoa Training Exercise

A team of six UNSOS Military Engineers of the UK Contingent (UK-70) arrived in Baidoa last week for a week-long training exercise that ended today. During their time there, the team trained engineers of AMISOM’s Sector 3 Ethiopian Contingent on Force Protection Engineering, including all aspects of strengthening of perimeter fences to improve security (HESCO construction and field defense).

The exercise which was aimed at enhancing the capabilities of the forces to effectively secure electoral sites in Baidoa comes ahead of the electoral process set to kick off in a few days in the area, where Upper House and Lower House elections will take place.

AMISOM’s Deputy Sector Commander, the State Indirect Electoral Implementation Team (SIEIT), and the Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation (MOPIC) of the Interim South West Administration (ISWA) conveyed their thanks to UNSOS for the valuable contribution of the Engineers.
