Secretary-General Appoints Hubert Price of United States as Head of The United Nations Support Office In Somalia
United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon today announced the appointment of Hubert Price of the United States as Head of the United Nations Support Office in Somalia (UNSOS).
Mr. Price brings to this new position more than twenty years of experience in United Nations peacekeeping operations, most recently, as Director of Mission Support in the United Nations Mission in Liberia (UNMIL) from 2010 until 2015, and later as Acting Assistant Secretary-General for the Department of Field Support until June 2016.
From 2003 to 2004, Mr. Price served as Chief Integrated Support Services in the United Nations Mission of Support in East Timor (UNMISET), followed by two years as Chief Administrative Officer in the United Nations Operation in Cote d'Ivoire (UNOCI). He then served as Chief Mission Support in the United Nations Mission in Timor (UNMIT) from 2006 until 2010, which included periods during which he simultaneously acted as interim Chief of Staff.
A retired Lieutenant Colonel from the United States Armed Forces, he has been part of United Nations peacekeeping operations since 1994, serving in a variety of capacities in Mozambique, Angola and at the United Nations Logistics Base (UNLB) in Brindisi.
Mr. Price is a graduate of the University of Richmond, Virginia, and holds an advanced degree in Systems Management from the University of Southern California.
