UNSOS holds Business Relationship Management (BRM) and Digital Transformation Workshop for ATMIS

Mogadishu – Personnel from the African Union Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS) successfully participated in a Business Relationship Management and Digital Transformation Workshop from 3 to 4 December 2023.

Facilitated by the United Nations Support Office in Somalia (UNSOS) Field Technology Section (FTS), the workshop brought together representatives from civilian, military and police components to automate and optimize their business processes by co-creating innovative solutions using digital techology.

The Officer-in-Charge of UNSOS Mission Support, Qurat-ul-Ain Sadozai, emphasized the importance of utilizing digital platforms and integrating technology into security operations to ensure the safety and effectiveness of ATMIS troops.

“We can create a system to save the lives of our troops, to give them the technologies that allow the troops to be on the main supply routes and be able to conduct operations more effectively,” said Qurat.

Paul Gimsay, the Officer-in-Charge of UNSOS Field Technology Section, highlighted the significance of engaging with ATMIS to understand their challenges and needs.

“Engaging with clients is essential in determining their needs just as the clients need to understand our capabilities. So, going forward this is what we aim to prioritize,” said Gimsay.

The participants were taken through various topics among them electronic document management, virtual operations, media monitoring, language translation and SharePoint use among others.

Ambassador Mohamed El-Amine Souef, the Head of ATMIS, commended the strong collaboration between UNSOS and ATMIS. He emphasized the importance of equipping ATMIS personnel with technological tools to execute their mandated tasks.

“The ever-evolving threats posed by Al-Shabaab and other armed illegal groups require ATMIS to deploy modern technological solutions for information gathering, surveillance, early warning systems, including counter measures,” said Ambassador Souef.
